100 Scholars
The 100 Scholars Program is designed to prepare
African-American males for the academic challenges
of high school, college and beyond while also
fostering friendly competition.
Up to 100 African-American males enrolled
in middle schools throughout Middle Tennessee
will compete for 25 scholarships to be awarded
over the two-year period 2003 and 2004. To
qualify, students must maintain a cumulative
grade point average of 3.0 and meet other
program
requirements.
In addition, they complete
monthly workshops on topics that will prepare
them
for college and leadership development.
Students who enroll in the program will engage
in
a rigorous academic competition throughout
high
school which will result in the top 25
being awarded scholarships to attend a fully
accredited
four-year institution. 100 Scholars training includes:
- SAT/ACT training facilitated by one of
Nashville’s
leading educational enrichment firms
- An annual college tour
